One key indicator in this regard is “tread void ratio” — the proportion of raised tread blocks to the total contact area with the ground.
Tread Saturation Explained
Formula:
(Total Tread Block Area ÷ Total Contact Area) × 100%
High Saturation: More rubber in contact with the road, typically offering better wear resistance and lower noise.
Low Saturation: More void area, providing superior water, mud, and stone evacuation, along with stronger grip in challenging conditions.
