Before we start the checking, make sure the vehicle has a valid license plate and that you know the maximum loaded weight of the complete unit or gross vehicle weight (GVW) and the truck/tractor weight only, called the TARE weight. Then, conduct a pre-trip inspection.

Safety tips for tires

The tires of the truck also are important. The pattern of wear will tell you if they are under- or overinflated. To find out, check the tread depth for even wear. If the tires have more wear in the center, they are over-inflated; if there’s more wear along the outside edges, they are under-inflated.

Also, be sure to check vehicles:

Tire pressure

Inboard/outboard side wells

Rims inside and out

Hub oil

Lug nuts (rust around a lug nut may indicate that it’s loose)

Rocks or mud stuck between dual tires

Important Safety Information

1. Do not exceed max. tire capacities.

2. CAUTION! Do not use on tires with high-end rims. Tire removal and installation can result in scratches and slight marring on rims.

3. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during assembly, mounting and use.

4. Do not modify Tire Changer to perform tasks for which it was not designed.

5. Use only with accessories included with the Tire Changer.

6. Do not use without mounting to floor. Mount only to a secure, level surface able to support weight of Manual Tire Changer and tire assembly.

7. Verify that mounting surface has no hidden utility lines before drilling or driving screws.

8. Deflate tire before use. Keep tire’s valve stem uncovered during use to allow any remaining air to flow out of tire

9. Lubricate Breaker Handle when removing tire from rim; failure do so can lead to tire damage.

10. Keep work area clean and well lit.

11. Keep bystanders out of the area during use.

12. Do not use when tired or when under the influence of drugs, medication or alcohol.

13. This product is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with or near this item.

14. Inspect before every use; do not use if parts are loose or damaged.

Tire rotation is a practical means of reducing tire costs when irregular or rapid wear are prevalent. Rotation patterns, such as those recommended by vehicle manufacturers, may be followed. There are no restrictions on criss-cross rotation. Tires having directional type tread patterns should be mounted in the recommended direction of rotation for optimum performance.

There are many factors may trigger the occurrence of irregular wear. Among those, mechanical malfunctions of vehicles such as misalignment and uniformity of the tire and wheel assembly are the major factors.

Tire and wheel imbalance may result in irregular tire wear. Steering axle and drive axle tires should be balanced dynamically for best results. Vibration may also be the result of mismatch of the high and low spots of the tire and wheel. To resolve vibration problems, the runout of tire and rim should be measured.

Wheel weights are used to balance wheels. Wheel weights come in a wide variety of sizes. They also come in many different shapes. The different shapes accommodate the different wheels they must fit. Using the improper weight will normally result in the weight coming off the wheel and a need for re-balance.

A properly done wheel balance will last the life of the tire unless the tire must be removed from the wheel, or the wheel or tire is altered. Tires wear evenly around their circumference, so wear will not affect balance. If the proper weights are used and they are properly installed, will not come off.

Many other factors can and do cause vibration like wheel balance. It is important to remember that round and balanced are two different things. For instance, an out of round tire. An out of round tire can be balanced. A square block could also be balanced, but it will also not roll without vibration.

Every piece of tire out from Paxxon has been tested following the A TMC recommended practice (RP) which is a specification or practice that assists equipment users, vehicle/component manufacturers and other industry suppliers in the purchase, design, maintenance and performance of commercial vehicle equipment. Warning: Serious injury or death may result from a tire failure. Many tire failures are preceded by vibration, bumps, bulges or other anomalies. If an unusual vibration occurs while driving your vehicle or you notice a bump, bulge, or an anomaly not associated with normal tire performance, have your tires and vehicle evaluated by a qualified service person.

Always use certified tire and rim combinations for diameter and contours.

Always comply with the pressure limits from the wheel manufacturer provided.

Why Tire pressure matters

Vehicles can run in a better status when the tire pressure is correct, for example, when your tires are properly inflated, your vehicle gets better gas mileage, tires last longer, and vehicle handles more smoothly. More importantly, having properly inflated tires reduces your risk of getting into a serious vehicle accident. A study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that people driving with under inflated tires are three times more likely to get into vehicle crashes related to tire problems. Maintaining correct tire pressure is not simply a good idea, it could potentially save your life.

How to maintain tire pressure

Check Tire Pressure before starting the engine. Tires on the bus/truck should be stable and suitable with the road and environment.

Routing check on tire pressure. Please check the air pressure every month even if the vehicle is parking and without jobs.

Add or remove air with proper equipment. Or find a tire retail or anyone with skills and equipment to add or remove air once you find the air pressure is not correct.

Always comply with the pressure limits from the wheel manufacturer provided. Over inflation will cause the tread central section damage; Under inflation will lead to damage on tire shoulders. All these irregular wearing will short the tire life and bring risk to vehicle and people.
